Can I have some money to buy you a present?

Last weekend in the US was Mother’s Day. When our kids were young, it was dad’s job to make sure the kids a) remembered their mom, and b) got her something (although adult children, just like husbands, still need reminding). The best is when they make something, though that still takes time and planning and resources from somewhere.

Sometimes they ask: can I have some money to buy mom a present? Of course! We love that they want to give us something – even when it necessitates them asking for the money or materials to show it.

Isn’t that what God does for us?

  • “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 NIV)

The end of a life patterned after God, Who graciously gives all things to those that love Him, is giving our lives and what we make of them back to Him.

Because isn’t that where we get them from in the first place?
