Whereas five of the seven churches to whom Jesus spoke in Revelation chapters 2-3 had issues they needed to deal with, the letters to all seven of the churches end with promises, “to the one that overcomes…”
To the one that overcomes, God gives them: the right to eat from the tree of life in the paradise of God (Rev 2:7); to not be hurt by the 2nd death (Rev 2:11); He will give them hidden manna and a white stone with a new name that no one else will know (Rev 2:17); authority over the nations (Rev 2:26); the morning star (Rev 2:28); to be dressed in white, to have their names in the book of life and to be acknowledged by Jesus to our Father (Rev 3:5); to be a pillar in the temple of God, to have God’s name and the new name of Jesus written on us (Rev 3:12); to sit with Jesus on His throne (Rev 3:21).
David finished His most famous song: “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23:6 NIV)
Never lose sight of the promise. Be the ones, by the grace of Almighty God, who overcome.
