So many times, we are hit with just another example of the opposite: where we are unwanted.
It may be an unexpected pregnancy or being passed over for the job you thought you were perfect for. Your parents really wanted a boy. Sometimes you’re on the other end of the conversation where the one you’ve given your heart to - says there’s someone else. You’re not the one.
Sometimes life gives us the message that we are unexpected, unwanted, unplanned. Our identities can get formed around lies that we tell ourselves, or insensitive or painful things others tell us. And where is God in all that?
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” Ephesians 1:4-6NIV
God wants you. Also, this is important: it is out of his pleasure and good will.
It’s not because we deserved it. With God, we’re not trying to win a popularity contest. It’s not because we had any advantage or skill, not because we are good, or even better than anyone else on the planet. It’s not because you’re being chased down as a criminal.
When God chooses you it’s only because He loves you.
You are wanted. Live in that.
